Care

From inspiration to craftsmanship we strive to make sure that every Jack French London product you own is flawless. Each handbag is built to last, and designed to remain stylish.

We only use luxury materials and maintain the high manufacturing standards. Our handbags are made from high quality leather and because of this, need a beauty regime of their own to keep them looking their stunning best.

Day-to-day care

When in regular use, every other day, give your handbag a brisk sweep with a soft dry cloth - this won't take more than a few minutes, but will help preserve the appearance of the leather.

Removing dirt build up

You will need to remove any dirt build-up by wiping your handbag down with a cleaner made specifically for the leather in question.

Suede handbags will need regular cleaning with a suede brush to remove any accumulated dirt and (some) stains on the leather – remember to always brush in one direction as multi-directional brushstrokes will damage the texture of the suede.

Condition

Try to condition your handbag with an appropriate leather product every month – this will keep your handbag looking immaculate and will prevent any flaking or wrinkling to the leather.

Water damage

All leather is permeable and can never be entirely waterproof so try not to take your handbag out in wet weather. If this is unavoidable, let any water dry naturally. High-heat measures - for example, using a hairdryer to dry it out - will only cause the leather to crinkle beyond salvage.

Metalwork

Don’t forget that the hardware will need some attention every once in a while to keep the overall appearance of your handbag looking gorgeous. Use an appropriate polish (spraying onto a soft, dry cloth, rather than directly onto the hardware) and buff until clean. Another tip is to rub any zips with beeswax to keep them running smoothly and easily up their track.

Storage

Suede colors tend to fade more rapidly than most other conventional leathers. To reduce any fading, store your suede handbags in a dark place.

When you store your Jack French London handbag, tuck the strap inside, especially if there’s a chain or hardware on it. This will prevent the leather being scratched. Don't fold or stress the handbag in any way whilst it rests: allow it to rest naturally, with plenty of space and nothing sitting on top of it, pressing it under its weight.

Rotation is key. Everyday use of your bag will wear it out, so alternate your Jack French London handbags each week.
